Couples

When the same
conversations keep happening

Most couples don’t seek therapy because they’ve stopped caring about one another.
More often, it’s because they’re feeling stuck.

The same arguments keep happening. Communication has become difficult. Resentments have built up over time. Trust has been damaged. One or both partners feel unheard, misunderstood or disconnected.

Sometimes there has been a specific event that has created strain within the relationship. At other times, the distance develops gradually until couples realise they’re no longer relating to one another in the way they once did.

Couples therapy provides a safe and structured space to understand what is happening and begin working towards healthier ways of communicating, relating and resolving difficulties together.

Why Couples Seek Therapy

Every relationship faces challenges, but some difficulties can become difficult to navigate without support.
Couples often seek therapy because of:

Therapy is about helping both partners understand what’s happening beneath the conflict and find more constructive ways of moving forward.

Rebuilding Trust

Trust can be damaged in many ways.

For some couples, trust has been affected by addiction, secrecy or dishonesty. For others, it may have been impacted by an affair, broken promises or repeated experiences of feeling let down.
Rebuilding trust takes time.
Therapy provides a space to explore what has happened, understand its impact on both partners and begin rebuilding honesty, safety and connection where possible.

Navigating Change Together

Relationships are continually shaped by life events and transitions.

Parenthood, recovery from addiction, career changes, loss, illness, retirement and other significant life events can place pressure on even strong relationships.

Therapy can help couples navigate these changes together, strengthen communication and develop a shared understanding of how to move forward.

The Impact of Anxiety, Trauma and Addiction on Relationships

Relationship difficulties don’t always begin within the relationship itself.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

Understanding

I provide a balanced, non-judgemental space where both partners can feel heard and understood.

Resolution

Drawing on my experience working with addiction, trauma, anxiety and relationship difficulties, I support couples in addressing both the immediate challenges they face and the underlying issues that may be contributing to them.

Communication

My role is not to take sides or decide who is at fault. Instead, I help couples explore patterns within the relationship, improve communication and gain a deeper understanding of each other's experiences.
